Everything you need to keep countertops clean, in one little spray bottle.

Most kitchen cleaners rely on chemicals that irritate skin and leave residue behind, which is not ideal on the surfaces where you prepare food. This one does the same job with three essential oils that are naturally antibacterial, and it takes about five minutes to put together.

Lemon cuts through grease, tea tree disinfects, and eucalyptus leaves the kitchen smelling clean rather than chemical.

Method
01

Fill the bottle

Pour the cooled distilled water and the white vinegar into a clean spray bottle.

02

Add the oils

Add the lemon, tea tree and eucalyptus essential oils, then screw the top on firmly.

03

Shake well

Oils and water separate naturally, so give it a good shake before every use.

04

Spray and wipe

Spray directly onto countertops, tables, cutting boards and sinks, then wipe clean with a microfibre or damp cloth.

Tips and swaps

  • For extra shine on a stainless steel sink, finish with a splash of white vinegar on a soft cloth.
  • Patch test first on delicate surfaces like marble or granite.
  • Avoid spraying near open food or cutlery, and wipe surfaces dry before preparing food.

Recipe FAQs

Is this safe to use on food preparation surfaces?
Yes, but wipe the surface dry with a clean cloth before you prepare food on it. Avoid spraying directly near open food or cutlery.
Can I use it on marble or granite?
Be careful. Vinegar can etch natural stone over time. Patch test in a hidden corner first, or leave the vinegar out and rely on the essential oils.
How long does it keep?
About one month. Use cooled distilled or boiled water rather than tap water, as that gives it a longer life.
