For the rooms that need more than an open window.

Most air fresheners simply mask a smell with a stronger one. Tea tree and eucalyptus actually tackle the bacteria causing it, and they leave behind something that smells clean rather than sweet.

Method
01

Combine

Add all the ingredients to a clean spray bottle.

02

Shake and mist

Shake well, then spray around the room, over fabrics, or into the air.

Tips and swaps

  • Always shake before use. Essential oils naturally separate from water.
  • Use distilled water, it gives the spray a far longer shelf life.
  • Store it in glass, as the oils will degrade a plastic bottle over time.
  • If you are spraying around pets, keep the dilution light and do not overdo it.

Recipe FAQs

Is it safe around pets?
Keep the dilution light and do not spray it directly at them. Cats in particular are sensitive to tea tree, so use it sparingly in rooms they occupy.
Will it stain fabrics?
It should not, but the oils can mark delicate fabric. Test on a hidden corner before misting soft furnishings.
How long does it keep?
About a month. Use distilled water, as it gives the spray a far longer shelf life than tap water.
