The five-minute habit that makes a real difference to allergies.

Dust mites live in soft furnishings and feed on the skin we shed, and they are a common trigger for allergies and asthma. Eucalyptus and tea tree make the environment far less hospitable to them.

Method
01

Fill the bottle

Pour the distilled water and white vinegar into a clean spray bottle.

02

Add the oils

Add the eucalyptus, lavender and tea tree essential oils.

03

Shake

Secure the lid and shake well to combine.

04

Spritz

Lightly mist mattresses, pillows, curtains and carpets. A light mist is all you need, do not soak them.

05

Dry

Let everything dry completely before use.

Tips and swaps

  • Wash bedding regularly in hot water. That does more than any spray.
  • Use this weekly on mattresses and soft furnishings.
  • Keep the room dry and ventilated. Dust mites thrive in humidity.

Recipe FAQs

How often should I use it?
Weekly on mattresses, carpets and soft furnishings. It works best as a routine rather than a one-off.
Will it soak the mattress?
It should not. A light mist is all you need, and everything must dry completely before use.
Does it actually kill dust mites?
It makes the environment far less hospitable to them. The single most effective thing you can do is still wash bedding regularly in hot water.
