Scented wooden blocks that keep fish moths out of your wardrobe.

A natural alternative to mothballs that actually smells lovely.

Cedarwood has been used to protect clothing for centuries, and it works because moths and fish moths cannot stand it. Untreated wood soaks up the oils and releases them slowly for months.

Method
01

Mix the oils

In a small bowl, combine the carrier oil with all four essential oils. The carrier oil helps the wood absorb evenly.

02

Infuse the blocks

Using a paintbrush or cloth, coat the blocks generously, covering every surface.

03

Let them dry

Leave for at least 24 hours until the oil has soaked in and the surface feels dry.

04

Add a loop

Tie a length of string or twine to each block to make a hanging loop.

05

Hang them

Hang in the wardrobe or tuck into drawers.

Tips and swaps

  • Refresh the blocks with a few extra drops of cedarwood every couple of months.
  • Keep them off clothing directly, as the oils can mark delicate fabric.

Recipe FAQs

How long do they last?
Two to three months. Refresh them with a few extra drops of cedarwood when the scent fades.
Will the oil mark my clothes?
It can on delicate fabric, so let the blocks dry fully for at least 24 hours and hang them rather than resting them on clothing.
Why cedarwood?
It has been used to protect clothing for centuries. Moths and fish moths genuinely cannot stand it.
