The serum that makes skin look like it has had a full night of sleep.

Hyaluronic acid holds up to a thousand times its own weight in water, which is why it plumps skin so quickly. It needs something to hold onto though, so this is layered with a hydrosol and a light oil to seal it in.

Method
01

Combine the base

Mix the hyaluronic acid with the rose water or lavender hydrosol in a glass dropper bottle.

02

Add the oil

Add the jojoba oil for extra moisture.

03

Scent it

Drop in the essential oil if you are using one, and shake well to combine.

04

Apply

Press a few drops into the face after cleansing and before moisturiser.

Tips and swaps

  • Apply it to slightly damp skin. Hyaluronic acid needs water to draw on, and on bone-dry skin it can actually pull moisture out.
  • Always follow with a moisturiser or oil to seal it in.

Recipe FAQs

Should I apply it to dry or damp skin?
Damp. Hyaluronic acid draws in water, and on bone-dry skin it can actually pull moisture out of the skin instead.
Do I still need a moisturiser?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid attracts water but does not seal it in. Always follow with a moisturiser or facial oil.
How long does it keep?
Around two to four weeks refrigerated. It is water based with no preservative, so make it in small batches.
